I’m proud to say that I can work from home and we use very little childcare. I’m not proud to say that sometimes I’m not-so-great at balancing my work-at-home life with my mom-at-home life. BUT- I think that’s normal.
I have a 5-year-old who’s starting kindergarten for the first time, and our two-year-old is pretty much home with me all the time. My husband has unique hours that often allow me to work in the morning for a bit before he heads off, but there’s no way I can get all my work done in that time.
And, when I wait until the end of the day, I’m exhausted. Sometimes I can power through, but it’s hard to be efficient and focused after a normal day.
I’ve learned that I need to be able to work during the day while my kids are home. The younger one’s nap is a great time for this, but sometimes he takes a short nap, and my 5-year-old can only entertain himself for so long.
Though I do let my older son watch TV or play educational games on a mobile device, there’s only so much of that I want to let him do. Inevitably, I have work to do and at least one kid that wants to hang out. I can’t blame him- he sees me at home, and he wants to play, or chat, (or sometimes he just wants to distract me!). I really do feel fortunate that we’re in this situation, but the reality is, I do have to work sometimes.
I’m thankful I discovered a great, and unexpected way to get more work done at home. Lunchables Organic has become a fun way to do lunch (or snack!) at our house. My kids love that they can build their own meal, and it gives them something to do, right next to me, while I get some work done.
Lunchables Organic has allowed my kids to be creative with their food, eat with their hands (which they love!) and give them something to focus on while I sit with them and multitask. Now, I’m probably not doing tasks that require a lot of focus at these times, but I can reply to emails, take care of some social media, chat with the kids, and sometimes I even snack on the Lunchables Organic Extra Cheesy Pizza.
I feel good about Lunchables Organic because they are USDA certified organic, and contain no artificial preservatives, flavors or colors*. I also love that I can easily grab them when I visit Target (and like me, I’m sure you’re there regularly!).
Working from home is a constant balancing act, and one that can easily shift too far in either direction (too much work, or not enough work) if you don’t pay attention. I’ve ended up at both ends of the spectrum on many occasions, and I’m regularly looking for ways to improve my ability to balance being a work-at-home mom.
When you work from home with kids, it’s important to find ways to keep them busy, to help them understand that sometimes you do have to work, and to have activities and meals that make it easy for you to be both a mom and an employee (even if you’re working for yourself!).
I often think of lunch as one more thing I have to take care of, and not something that helps me be more effective as a work-from-home mom, but I’ve learned that Lunchables Organic can be a useful part of my work-at-home life.
What tips and tricks do you use to help you get more work done from home?

I’m super excited they now make organic Lunchables! My kids love these as well. I’m going to pin this for later so I remember to pick them up. Thanks!
🙂 I was so excited to learn that LUNCHABLES is doing organic now!
